RIP MARIO GOMEZ (December 8, 1974 – May 22, 2023)
Formal pronouncement of death was made on Monday at 12:27 p.m.
The decedent was killed by a Metrolink train in the Valley Glen area.
Paramedics were sent to the 12700 block of Raymer Street, between Whitsett and Coldwater Canyon avenues.
Gomez was in a “non-pedestrian area” when he was hit by train No. 109, which was traveling westbound on the Ventura County Line.
No one was injured aboard the train, which was carrying 24 passengers.
This is the second time in seven days there was a fatal accident involving a Metrolink train. A Metrolink train struck a vehicle at Coldwater Canyon Avenue and Raymer Street at about 3:20 p.m. last Tuesday, just west of the location of Monday’s fatality, killing a man inside the vehicle.
