(L.A.) Marin Burnham, 10, Died in a Hospital

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 10-year-old White/Caucasian female.

The coroner’s office identified the girl as Marin Burnham.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death A: Drowning

Cause of Death B: Developmental and Epileptic Encephalopathy with Incomplete Hippocampal Inversion and Hippocampal Sclerosis

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Sunday at a hospital.

The hippocampus is a part of the brain important for memory and learning. During fetal development, it normally folds into a specific shape. Incomplete inversion means it didn’t fully fold the usual way.
