(L.A.) Maria Baltazar, 64, Died at a Residence
Case Number: 2023-15686
Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 64-year-old Hispanic female that occurred at her residence.
The coroner’s office has identified the woman as Maria Baltazar.
Manner of Death: Accident
Cause of Death: Effects of Ethanol and Alprazolam
RIP MARIA BALTAZAR (July 28, 1959 – November 14, 2023)
Formal pronouncement of death was made on Tuesday at 8:55 p.m.
The government investigator had initially provided the decedent’s forename+surname as Maria Rosario A Baltazar.
Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published in early June the following year, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back positive.
This is considered an accidental, i.e., unintentional, overdose.
Consuming ethanol (alcohol) and alprazolam (Xanax) together can be extremely dangerous. Ethanol and alprazolam are both central nervous system (CNS) depressants that slow down brain activity. When combined, their effects are amplified, leading to excessive sedation, respiratory depression, and increased risk of overdose.
