RIP MARDOQUEO GAMALIEL GOMEZ LOPEZ ( July 20, 2025)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Sunday.

The decedent was a native of Guatemala. He had been living in the United States since he was 17, working in the hospitality industry during the week, and as a gardener / landscaper on the weekends.

According to a fundraiser organized by Bianca Trevino, “He was doing landscaping work on my property in San Pedro when suddenly there was a car accident. The workers heard the crash, then heard two gunshots. At that point, they were running for cover when the gunman (the person who had the accident) was running down the street with a weapon in his hand. He happened to see Mardoqueo and the others who were running for cover from the shooter. It was unfortunate. He was the last man running away when he was struck by a single bullet. He later died in the hospital.”

In another fundraiser, the decedent’s uncle said, “Mardoqueo Gomez Lopez… was involved in a tragic gun shooting while he was working in landscape when a white car struck there [sic] car and the suspect started shooting in the air and unfortunately was shot in the back by a flying bulet. The grief, loss, and heartache surrounding this incident is unfathomable.

The suspect appears to have been high on drugs. He seemed to have rammed his car into the work truck, got out, and in his delirium, started shooting at people.
