(L.A.) Lydell Lawrence Sr., 63, Died at a Recuperative Care Center

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 63-year-old Black male that occurred at a recuperative care center.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Lydell Lawrence Sr.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Acute Combined Fentanyl and Cocaine Intoxication

Other Significant Conditions: Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus and a History of Methamphetamine Abuse

RIP LYDELL LAWRENCE SR. (September 25, 1961 – July 27, 2025)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Sunday.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on September 14, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back from the lab.

This is considered an accidental, i.e., unintentional, drug overdose.
