(L.A.) Leuane Chounlabout, 79, Died in Palmdale

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 79-year-old Asian male that occurred in what the government investigator described as a desert.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Leuane Chounlabout, resident of H Street in Eureka 95501.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Carbon Monoxide Toxicity

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Friday at 8:43 a.m.

The decedent was found lifeless, lying on his back surrounded by a tangle of electrical cords connecting heat lamps to a greenhouse generator outside Palmdale. He had arrived two days earlier to help harvest the cannabis plants.

His name appears to be Laotian. Many cannabis harvesters are from the Khmer / Cambodian / Hmong communities.
