(L.A.) Kimberly Izquierdo, 27, Died in a Vehicle

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 27-year-old Hispanic female that occurred in a vehicle.

The coroner’s office has identified the woman as Kimberly Izquierdo.

Cause of Death: Blunt Trauma

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Saturday at 5:33 a.m.

The decedent was one of three Uber passengers who were killed after a speeding Mercedes Benz ran a red light at a South Los Angeles intersection, T-boning the Uber Honda.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened at around 5:25 a.m. at South Vermont Avenue and West Century Boulevard, several blocks west of the Harbor (110) Freeway.

Witnesses said the white Mercedes Benz, with only the driver inside, was speeding when it careened into the black Honda with four passengers and the driver.

One woman was thrown from the car and died. Two other female passengers died inside the Honda. A male passenger and the Uber driver were both taken to hospitals in critical condition.

The driver has been identified as 31-year-old Gregory Black. He was charged with three counts of vehicular manslaughter and pleaded not guilty at his arraignment at the Compton Courthouse. He is being held on $4 million bail. Black is a well-known local gang member from the area with an extensive criminal history. He was out on probation for murder when he killed the three women.
