(L.A.) Joshua Montes, 15, Died in a Hospital

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 15-year-old Hispanic male that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office has identified the teenager as Joshua Montes.

Manner of Death: Homicide

Cause of Death: Multiple Gunshot Wounds

The decedent was murdered during a street takeover in Willowbrook.

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Monday at 4:20 a.m.

He was the youngest of six children.

The 15-year-old went to Willowbrook with a friend on Aug. 14, to see a “car show,” better known to L.A. residents as a street takeover.

The gathering was at the intersection of E. 135th Street and Avalon Boulevard.

Montes was standing on a sidewalk near the intersection when, just before midnight, bullets started flying. He was hit twice and died later at the hospital.
