(L.A.) Jose Rodriguez Torres, 55, Ended His Life

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 55-year-old Hispanic male that occurred at a welfare organization.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Jose Rodriguez Torres.

Manner of Death: Suicide

Cause of Death: Methamphetamine, Quetiapine, and Temazepam Toxicity

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Tuesday at 8:39 a.m.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on September 30, presumably after the results of tox screening came back positive for the drugs.

Quetiapine, sold under the brand name Seroquel among others, is an atypical antipsychotic medication used for the treatment of schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, and major depressive disorder.

Temazepam (sold under the brand names Restoril among others) is a medication of the benzodiazepine class which is generally used to treat severe or debilitating insomnia.
