Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 49-year-old Latino male that occurred at a mental health clinic.
The coroner’s office has identified the man as Jose Paredes-Chavez.

Central nervous system (CNS) depressants are a class of drugs that slow down brain activity.
CNS depressants can include barbituarates (once commonly used for anxiety and sleep disorders), benzodiazepines (such as Valium, Xanax, and Ativan, which are commonly prescribed for anxiety and sleep disorders), sleeping pills (“Z-drugs” like Ambien, Sonata, Lunesta), and opioids (used for pain relief, like codeine, hydrocodone, and heroin).
