The coroner’s office identified the man as Jose Garcia Zatarain.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death A: Anoxic Encephalopathy

Cause of Death B: Traumatic Vertebral Artery Dissection

Cause of Death C: Traumatic C6 Cervical Vertebral Fracture

Other Significant Conditions: Medical History of Hypertension and Alcoholic Cirrhosis

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Tuesday at 4:46 p.m.

The government investigator indicated that the decedent was indigent and homeless.
