(L.A.) Jose Escobedo, 23, Died in State Prison

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 23-year-old Latino male that occurred at a prison/correctional facility.

The coroner’s office identified the young man as Jose Escobedo.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Combined Fentanyl and Acetyl Fentanyl Toxicity

RIP JOSE MANUEL ESCOBEDO (April 1, 2002 – March 6, 2026)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Friday.

The decedent was incarcerated at the state prison in Lancaster. He was found deceased either in general housing or on prison grounds.

Note that there are multiple decedents named “Jose Escobedo” in public records.
