(L.A.) Jayson McKinley, 32, Died in a Hospital

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 32-year-old Black male that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Jayson McKinley, resident of East 115th Street in the 90059.

Manner of Death: Homicide

Cause of Death: Gunshot Wounds of the Torso

The decedent was parked outside his mother’s home when a burgundy Buick pulled alongside his vehicle. A man stepped out and fired shots.

Four people were arrested in connection with this crime — Gregory James Black, Jr., Kenneth Bragg, Catrina Briggs-Bradley and Horace Dwayne Shanklin, Jr.

All four were initially charged with murder in July 2020. Those murder charges, however, were eventually dropped. By Fall 2021, Briggs-Bradley and Bragg had pleaded no contest to one count each of voluntary manslaughter. Briggs-Bradley was sentenced to 12 years in state prison, and Bragg was sentenced to 21 years.
