(L.A.) Jayden Canul, 9, Died in a Hospital

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a nine-year-old Latino male that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office identified the child as Jayden Canul.

Manner of Death: Natural

Cause of Death: Adenovirus, Metapneumovirus, and Rhinovirus Co-Infection

Other Significant Conditions: Chromosome 15 Duplication, Global Developmental Delay, Epilepsy, Obstructive Sleep Apnea, Anemia, Congenital Laryngomalacia, and Spastic Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Monday at 7:51 p.m.

Chromosome 15q duplication is an extremely rare genetic disorder in which there is an excess copy of a segment of DNA found on the long (“q”) arm of human chromosome 15. As a result, affected cells contain a total of 3 copies of the duplicated bases, instead of the usual 2 copies – one inherited from the mother and one from the father – found in a normal human diploid genome.
