(L.A.) James Hurd, 58, Died on the 405

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 58-year-old Black male that occurred on the 405 Freeway in Long Beach.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as James Hurd of Carson.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Blunt Traumatic Injuries

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Monday at 10:09 a.m.

The decedent was driving a 2010 Honda Fit south on the 405 near Lakewood Boulevard at about 65 mph when he rear-ended the car in front of him, causing a chain reaction that pushed forward into three more vehicles.
