(L.A.) Jacob Fuerte, 22, Died on a Highway

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 22-year-old Latino male that occurred on the 101 Freeway in Studio City.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Jacob Fuerte, resident of Riverside County.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Blunt-Force Injuries

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Monday at 5:25 a.m.

The decedent had been on his way to the Drill Tower Fire Academy when he became involved in a three-vehicle collision. When he exited his car, he was struck by another vehicle on the freeway and perished.

The original accident involved a car, Jeep Wrangler and a truck towing portable restrooms. The sedan and Jeep Wrangler appeared to have crashed into the truck’s trailer.

Fuerte was a Los Angeles Fire Department recruit who had joined in February. His father had worked for the LAFD for 17 years.
