(L.A.) Irma Romero Castañeda, 21, Died on a Hiking Trail

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 21-year-old Hispanic female that occurred on a hiking trail in Santa Clarita.

The coroner’s office identified the young woman as Irma Romero Castaneda of Lancaster.

Manner of Death: Suicide

Cause of Death: Hanging

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Monday morning.

The decedent’s body was discovered by a hiker at around 9:30 a.m. near the Haskell Canyon Open Space in Saugus.

LASD responded to the intersection of Benz Road and Copper Hill Drive.

There were no signs of foul play.
