(L.A.) Henry Melgar, 23, Died on the 605 Freeway

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 23-year-old Latino male that occurred on the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway.

The coroner’s office has identified the young man as Henry Melgar.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Blunt-Force Trauma

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Thursday at 11:31 p.m.

The decedent was driving a car that went off the freeway and crashed into a tree, bursting into flames.

California Highway Patrol officers had been called at around 11:09 p.m. to the northbound freeway, near the Imperial Highway on-ramp, where the vehicle had spun out of control.
