A hit-and-run traffic collision left a juvenile pocket bike rider dead in the Green Meadows neighborhood of South Los Angeles early Sunday morning.

The Los Angeles Police Department’s Southeast Division units responded to initial reports of a vehicle-versus-pedestrian collision at the intersection of South San Pedro and East 99th Streets at around 2 a.m.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found a male on the road, not conscious and not breathing.

According to the LAPD, a male juvenile riding a pocket bike northbound on San Pedro Street, north of 99th Street, was hit by a dark-colored Toyota Corolla traveling northbound on San Pedro Street. The driver did not stop to render aid after striking the rider.

The driver abandoned his vehicle at the scene and fled on foot.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics arrived at the scene and pronounced the juvenile victim deceased.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, possibly in his 20s, with a heavy build. His vehicle was towed as evidence.
