Gustafer Yellowgold’s Creator Dies Suddenly at 52

Grammy-award nominee Morgan Taylor passed away after a brief and sudden illness.

His wife of 18 years, Rachel Loshak, described on Facebook the circumstances of his death.

Just over a month ago, Morgan and I got covid while visiting my family in England. We hadn’t been for three years, and were both so sad that we had to quarantine and be sick instead of visiting with dearly missed friends and family. We were negative in time to have a couple of days with people we cared about before flying home.

Less than two weeks after flying home, Morgan got chills and a fever, the next day his bladder hurt and he went to hospital. The morning after he went in, the doctors told me that he had gone into full toxic septic shock, we learned the following day that it was from a strep A bacteria that had gotten into his blood. They don’t know how, but they strongly suspect that it was related to his reduced immunity after having covid.

They did EVERYTHING they could. With multiple doctors from multiple specialties, and their incredible nurses and residents all working to save his life. But after 11 terrible days and nights in the ICU he had no other choice than to let go, under the full moon.

The couple’s two children are named Harvey and Ridley. He is also survived by his mother, brother, and sister.

Gustafer Yellowgold is an animated character said to be from the sun. Taylor released the CD/DVD “Gustafer Yellowgold’s Dark Pie Concerns” in 2015 for which he received a Grammy nod in the Best Children’s Album category.
