(L.A.) German Cruz Lopez, 23, Died in Echo Park Lake

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 23-year-old Hispanic male that occurred in a lake.

The coroner’s office identified the man as German Cruz Lopez.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Drowning

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Thursday at 1:43 p.m.

The decedent and his cousin stole a swan-adorned paddlebot for a joy ride at night. The boat apparently capsized. It took responders 12 hours to find the body.
