(L.A.) Gerardo Puga, 37, Died at a Residence

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 37-year-old Latino male that occurred at his residence.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Gerardo Puga.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Cardiomegaly

Other Significant Condition: Supratherapeutic Olanzapine

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Thursday.

Olanzapine is an atypical antipsychotic, commonly sold as Zyprexa. It is used for schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and sometimes as an adjunct for depression.

Supratherapeutic means at a dose higher than the expected therapeutic range.

This is considered accidental, i.e., unintentional, because the decedent did not intend to kill himself.
