RIP FLETCHER CHRISTOPH HICKLEN (February 22, 1965 – June 17, 2024)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Monday at 1:40 p.m.

The decedent was fatally shot in the Crenshaw District.

He had been booked by LAPD in February 2024 for 245(a)(1) assault with deadly weapon, with bail nominally set at $1.36 million; however, the district attorney found no reason to prosecute, and his arrest was reclassified as a mere detention under California PC 849.5.

California Penal Code Section 849.5 states: “In any case in which a person is arrested and released and no accusatory pleading is filed charging him with an offense, any record of the arrest of the person shall include a record of release. Thereafter, the arrest shall not be deemed an arrest, but detention only.”
