Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 33-year-old Latino male that occurred in a pallet yard in Compton.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Fidel Cortez.

Manner of Death: Homicide

Cause of Death: Multiple Gunshot Wounds

RIP FIDEL CORTEZ (December 5, 1989 – July 29, 2023)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Saturday at 4:13 p.m.

Deputies responded at 4:03 p.m. to a call of a gunshot victim in the 2000 block of Santa Fe Avenue, a commercial-industrial area north of the Gardena (91) Freeway.
