(L.A.) Fernando Mendez, 29, Died in a Backyard

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 29-year-old Latino male that occurred in the backyard of a private residence in Pomona.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Fernando Mendez.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Gunshot Wound of the Head

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Sunday night.

Pomona PD responded to the 1000 block of West Second Street just after 10:00 p.m. for what was believed at the time to be a shooting.

Note that there are multiple decedents named “Fernando Mendez” in public records.
