(L.A.) Eugene Youngblood, 42, Died in Jail

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 42-year-old Black male that occurred in jail.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Eugene Youngblood.

Height: 6 feet 3 inches / Weight: 220 pounds

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Methamphetamine Toxicity

RIP EUGENE WESLEY YOUNGBLOOD (November 23, 1981 – June 5, 2024)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Wednesday at 10:07 p.m.

The decedent was found lifeless inside the cell he was placed in at Lancaster Station. He had just been arrested at 5:30 that afternoon.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on September 17, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back positive for the drug.

This was the 14th out of 32 in-custody deaths of the Sheriff’s Department for the year.
