RIP ELVIRA AVILA CUELLAR (April 3, 1949 – December 13, 2024)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Friday at 4:17 p.m.

Long Beach Police Department officers were dispatched at around 4 p.m. to East Greenleaf and Long Beach boulevards, north of the 91 Freeway. Paramedics and sheriff’s deputies were already at the scene.

Authorities said a 2009 Chevrolet HHR had made a left turn from East Greenleaf to go south on Long Beach Boulevard when it hit Cuellar, who had fallen in the marked crosswalk in the intersection.

The driver remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation. Speed, distracted driving and impaired driving did not appear to have contributed to the collision.
