(L.A.) Elmer Rodas Garcia, 51, Died From a Gunshot

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 51-year-old Latino male.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Elmer Rodas Garcia.

Manner of Death: Homicide

Cause of Death: Gunshot Wound of Back

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Tuesday.

The decedent was found lifeless in an area adjacent to the 405 Freeway in Lawndale at around 3:35 a.m. The location is near a homeless encampment.

LASD, which has jurisdiction over Lawndale, was dispatched at 3:45 a.m.

Redondo Beach PD was on scene at 3:59 a.m.

As of 4:45 a.m., the coroner’s estimated arrival was the drive time from downtown L.A.

As of 11:00 a.m., CHP was assigned purview.
