Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 27-year-old Hispanic female that occurred in a hospital.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death B: Uterine Fibroids
RIP ELIZABETH ARANA ( February 6, 2026)
Formal pronouncement of death was made on Friday.
For a 27-year-old with two children, undergoing supracervical hysterectomy (removing the uterus while preserving the cervix) specifically for fibroids is medically uncommon and represents a departure from typical treatment patterns.
Fibroid-related hysterectomy typically peaks in the late 40s. The typical age range for hysterectomy due to uterine fibroids is 45–50 years, and only about 1.8% of women aged 20–29 are diagnosed with fibroids at all. While fibroids can appear in one’s 20s and grow rapidly during reproductive years when estrogen levels are high, most women in their 20s with fibroids are managed with myomectomy (fibroid removal preserving the uterus), hormonal therapy, or uterine fibroid embolization rather than immediate hysterectomy.
Moreover, post-hysterectomy deaths are rare, especially in young patients.
