(L.A.) Eddie McAllister, 57, Died in a Parking Lot

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 57-year-old Black male that occurred in a parking lot.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Eddie McAllister.

Manner of Death: Homicide

Cause of Death: Gunshot Wound of Chest

RIP EDDIE MCALLISTER (October 21, 1966 – January 17, 2024)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Wednesday at 2:14 a.m.

The decedent was an off-duty security guard who was shot during an altercation outside a Hawthorne restaurant.

Police were called at 2:09 a.m. to Fabulous Charbroiled Burgers at 3301 Rosecrans Avenue, where witnesses told them McAllister had been shot in the restaurant’s parking lot during a fight.

Videotape shows a confrontation in which several punches were exchanged before the gunfire.

A suspect was tracked to a nearby location in a neighboring city. At that location, the suspect was taken into custody without incident.

Darryl Deshon Fletcher, 54, pleaded not guilty to one count each of murder, possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of ammunition prohibited under a prior conviction in connection.

McAllister’s family said he had stopped to get takeout food after getting off work as an unarmed security guard. Family members say he was the father of four children.
