RIP DZOVIG MARJIK (February 24, 1957 – January 14, 2003)

Shot and killed by her brother, Mardiros Iskenderian, owner of the Zankou Chicken restaurant chain.

They’re Armenian.

Dzovig Marjik was the daughter of Zankou Chicken founder, Vartkes Iskenderian.

Her brother Mardiros Iskenderian opened his own branches of the extremely popular and successful fast-food restaurant. He was 56 years old when he shot and killed 45-year-old Dzovig Marjik, and his 75-year-old mother Margueritte Iskenderian, on January 14, 2003, at Marjik’s Verdugo Hills home, before taking his own life.

Brother and sister had gotten into a heated argument that afternoon, and Mardiros was scheduled to undergo a “medical procedure” the following day related to a recent diagnosis of cancer in the colon and brain.
