(L.A.) Denis Buchanan, 67, Died in a Convalescent Home

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 67-year-old White/Caucasian male that occurred in a convalescent home in the 90036.
The coroner’s office identified the man as Denis Buchanan.
Manner of Death: Natural
Cause of Death: Hypertensive Cardiovascular Disease
Other Significant Conditions: Diabetes Mellitus, Obesity, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Sunday morning.
The decedent was listed as an unclaimed person in NAMUS on November 13. His name there is given as Denis Buchanan Ridley.
Circumstances:
On September 26 and 27, the decedent was observed “shaking” during the administration of his nighttime medications at the convalescent home where he was residing.
Staff asked him if he would like medical attention, but he declined.
On September 28 at 7:30 a.m., the decedent was found unresponsive in bed by the nursing staff after he did not appear for breakfast.
A nurse administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation for approximately 15 minutes.
911 was called and Los Angeles Fire Department responded. Paramedics pronounced death on scene at 7:57 a.m.
The decedent was last known alive on September 28 at 0:00 hours when a nurse observed him asleep and breathing.
