(L.A.) Davon Dean, 39, Ended His Life

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 39-year-old Black male that occurred in a vehicle.
The coroner’s office has identified the man as Davon Dean.
Manner of Death: Suicide
Cause of Death: Perforating Gunshot Wound of Head

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Tuesday at 3:43 p.m.
The decedent was a Santa Monica College employee who fatally shot his superior on campus Monday night.
Dean was located by police in El Segundo, who initiated a pursuit of his vehicle. After a PIT maneuver succeeded in stopping the vehicle, a standoff ensued, during which the suspect killed himself.
Durrell had been arrested in 2011 on suspicion of attempted murder, and in 2019, he was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. However, his only convictions were for misdemeanor property crimes. His formal record allowed him to be employed on campus.
