(L.A.) Daniel Okamoto, 28, Died on a Street

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 28-year-old Asian male that occurred on a street in Torrance.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Daniel Okamoto.

Born in L.A. County. Mother’s maiden name is Kanno.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Blunt Trauma

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Friday at 1:36 a.m.

The decedent was a Sheriff’s Department deputy of Japanese descent who joined LASD in 2017 and was assigned to the Lomita Sheriff’s Station.

He was fatally injured in an off-duty traffic collision at the intersection of Crenshaw Boulevard and Skypark Drive.
