(L.A.) Connor Lees, 29, Died in Long Beach

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 29-year-old White/Caucasian male that occurred in Long Beach.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Connor Lees. Born in L.A. County.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Probable Drowning

RIP CONNOR JAMES LEES (April 18, 1995 – March 28, 2025)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Friday at 1:44 p.m. at an ocean pier after the body was recovered from the waters off Long Beach.

The decedent was a firefighter with the Los Angeles Fire Department who went missing while free diving recreationally with friends in Long Beach in December. He was off-duty at the time.

It was on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, that the City of Long Beach’s public safety agencies responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting a missing diver in the Port of Long Beach. The Long Beach Fire Department commenced an immediate systematic search, including the use of divers, and was soon joined by Long Beach Police Department responders.

Lees was a six-year veteran of the LAFD, assigned to Fire Station 94 in the Baldwin Hills/Crenshaw community.

The Department of Medical Examiner publicly disclosed the CoD ruling on June 21.
