(L.A.) Carmelo Aetonu, 42, Died on a Sidewalk

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 42-year-old male that occurred on a sidewalk.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Carmelo Aetonu and listed his race/ethnicity as Asian.

Cause of Death: Effects of Methamphetamine

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Sunday at 6:03 p.m.

This is considered an accidental, i.e., unintentional, drug overdose.

The decedent’s surname appears to be Samoan. There were multiple incidents of the man going missing, including one time in 2015 when he disappeared while out on a day pass from a health facility in Westminster. At the time, he was thought to be in need of medication.

This is the second time in as many weeks that a person who had gone missing was found dead. The other high-profile case is the discovery of the remains of Beau Mann more than a year after he disappeared. In February, the remains of Dr. Jamsheed Shamloo were found after he had gone missing the previous month.
