RIP CARLOS COREAS (November 3, 1972 – July 4, 2024)
Formal pronouncement of death was made on Thursday at 10:14 a.m.
The Department of Medical Examiner publicly disclosed the CoD ruling on December 301 presumably after the results of tox screening had come back from the lab.
Sepsis of undetermined etiology, also known as culture-negative sepsis, is provided as a cause of death when the deceased had presented with clinical signs and symptoms of sepsis but no specific pathogen could be identified through standard tests. This situation is not uncommon and can pose significant challenges for coroners and forensic pathologists.
