(L.A.) Byron Avery, 64, Died on a Sidewalk

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 64-year-old Black male that occurred on a sidewalk.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Byron Avery.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Combined Effects of Methamphetamine and Cocaine

Other Significant Condition: Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease

RIP BYRON AVERY (March 7, 1960 – March 3, 2025)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Monday at 3:53 a.m.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on May 27, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back from the lab.

This is considered an accidental, i.e., unintentional, drug overdose.
