(L.A.) Bryan Diaz, 18, Died in Juvenile Hall

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of an 18-year-old Hispanic/Latino male that occurred in a juvenile hall in Sylmar.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Bryan Diaz.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on September 22, presumably after the results of tox screening came back positive for the drug.

The decedent was found unresponsive in his room Tuesday morning at Barry J. Nidorf Hall. He was then purportedly administered Narcan, a medication for overdoses, but was pronounced dead by 8:26 a.m.

Barry J. Nidorf serves as a temporary holding facility for juvenile detainees during their court proceedings. The 162-bed capacity facility has been operational since 1982 and sees about 2169 bookings annually.
