Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 24-year-old female who passed away on a cruise ship.

The coroner’s office identified the young woman as Briana Miller and listed her race/ethnicity as Black + Hispanic.

Manner of Death: Suicide

Cause of Death: Blunt-Force Trauma

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Monday morning.

The decedent had apparently fallen from her stateroom on the 14th floor, went over a balcony, and then landed on the fifth-floor deck.

This happened at around 2:00 a.m. on the Carnival cruise ship Firenze, which after the incident made a stop on Catalina Island to unload the body and her family.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published in the last week of June.
