(L.A.) Breanna Martinez, 28, Died on a Couch on a Sidewalk

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 28-year-old Black female whose body was found on a couch on a sidewalk.

The coroner’s office identified the woman as Breanna Martinez.

STATUS: The decedent’s body is ready to be released. Ruling by the deputy medical examiner is deferred pending additional investigation.

Manner and cause of death will be added to this page when it becomes available.

Because the DME has ordered drug screening, the next public update may take five to eight months.

RIP BREANNA RENEE MARTINEZ (August 29, 1997 – August 13, 2026)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Thursday morning.

The decedent had just been arrested by LASD in April for a misdemeanor assault while she was already on probation for a robbery she committed in 2024. Her next court date was to have been on September 17. The court actually released her from custody on June 24 so she could enter rehab / mental health diversion.
