Los Angeles County is reporting the death of an eight-year-old Latino male that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office identified the boy as Andy Mendez.

Manner of Death: Natural

Cause of Death: Viral Myocarditis (Human Rhinovirus/Enterovirus)

RIP ANDY MENDEZ ( August 6, 2025)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Wednesday.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on September 30.
