Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 20-year-old Hispanic male that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Andres Heredia.

Cause of Death: Blunt Trauma

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Sunday at 3:25 p.m.

The decedent died after his dirt bike collided with a car that left the scene in the Vermont Square neighborhood.

The crash happened at 54th and Cimarron streets, according to a release from the Los Angeles Police Department’s South Traffic Division.

The man was riding his dirt bike eastbound on 54th Street behind a dark-colored sedan when the car’s driver made an unsafe movement that caused the dirt bike rider to crash into the rear of the car. The rider was thrown off from the dirt bike and struck the pavement — and the car’s driver drove away from the scene.
