RIP ANABELLA ALASKA JIMENEZ ( February 28, 2026)
Formal pronouncement of death was made on Saturday.
Coronavirus 229E is one of several common human coronaviruses (alongside NL63, OC43, and HKU1) that have circulated for decades, typically causing nothing more than mild upper-respiratory symptoms like a runny nose, sore throat, and cough—essentially the common cold. While 229E spreads easily and can be a nuisance, it rarely leads to serious illness. By contrast, COVID-19 is caused by a different, more dangerous virus called SARS-CoV-2, which can trigger severe pneumonia, organ damage, and long-term complications, making it far more threatening than the mild 229E.
