(L.A.) Alonza Phoenix, 51, Died on a Sidewalk

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 51-year-old Black male that occurred on a sidewalk.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Alonza Phoenix.

Cause of Death: Effects of Methamphetamine

RIP ALONZA PHOENIX (December 9, 1973 – April 17, 2025)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Thursday at 11:43 p.m.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on June 21, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back from the lab.

This is considered an accidental, i.e., unintentional, drug overdose.
