Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 68-year-old Black male that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Alfred Dunn Jr.

Manner of Death: Natural

Cause of Death A: Aspiration Pneumonia

Cause of Death B: Vocal Cord Insufficiency

Other Significant Condition: Arteriosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Sunday.

If the vocal cords fail to close during swallowing, food or liquid can enter the airway, increasing the risk of aspiration.
