Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 71-year-old Black female that occurred at a hospital/polyclinic.

The coroner’s office has identified the woman as Aletha Jones.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death A: Myocardial Infarction, Clinical

Cause of Death B: Effects of Cocaine

RIP ALETHA JONES (December 26, 1953 – January 24, 2025)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Friday at 12:54 p.m.

This is considered an accidental, i.e., unintentional, drug overdose.

Cocaine use can lead to a heart attack by increasing oxygen demand and simultaneously reducing blood flow to the heart muscle.
