Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 25-year-old male that occurred on train tracks in the Antelope Valley.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Ahassib Shirzad and listed his race/ethnicity as Latino [sic].

Manner of Death: Suicide

Cause of Death: Blunt-Force Traumatic Injuries

The decedent’s surname appears to be West Asian — Persian / Iranian or even Afghan. The given forename is possibly a variation of Al-Hassib / Al-Haseeb / Hasib.

LASD had a call at around 2:19 pm about a Metrolink train hitting a pedestrian at Sierra Highway and Avenue M in Palmdale / Lancaster. The pedestrian had jumped in front of the train, which had been going southbound along Sierra Highway.
