(L.A.) Allan Carter, 64, Died in a Hospital

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 64-year-old male that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Allan Carter, resident of Normandie Avenue in the 90037.

Manner of Death: Homicide

Cause of Death: Multiple Gunshot Wounds

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Friday at 6:30 a.m.

The shooting happened on Thursday, March 17, on the northbound 110 Freeway at Imperial Highway, Los Angeles, California 90061.

He expired at California Hospital Medical Center at 1401 S Grand Ave Los Angeles, CA 90015.

Allan Carter was fatally shot on March 17th, 2022, coming home from work exiting the 110 Freeway onto Vernon Avenue and Figueroa Street.

LAFD and LAPD responded to a reported traffic accident. Whenparamedics arrived, they found a male victim of a SUV who had been shot. LAPD arrived at the scene and closed Vernon in both directions for the investigation.

Paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital in critical condition.

Officers believe the male was heading westbound on Vernon when he was shot. He tried to drive away but rear-ended one vehicle and then crashed into a pole.

* The medical examiner listed the decedent as Black, while LAPD identified him as Latino.

LAPD narrative: The victim was found at a traffic collision suffering from a gunshot wound. He died the next day at the hospital.

An arrest has been made.
