(L.A.) Michael Martinez, 52, Died in a Hospital

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 52-year-old “American Indian” male that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Michael Martinez.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Effects of Methamphetamine

Other Significant Conditions: Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease, Hypothermia, and Coccidioides Pneumonia

RIP MICHAEL MARTINEZ (November 24, 1970 – January 30, 2023)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Monday at 11:10 a.m.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on August 17, presumably after the results of tox screening came back positive for meth. This is considered an accidental drug overdose.

Note that there are more than a dozen decedents named “Michael Martinez” in the medical examiner’s records.

By “American Indian,” the government agency means Native American.
